Katie Swan

Performer | Writer | Singing Teacher


Katie is a passionate singing teacher and performer based in Meanjin/Brisbane. She holds a Ba. Arts (Music Theatre) and has completed a Masters of Music Studies (Vocal Pedagogy) at the QLD Conservatorium of Music. She teaches privately in her home studio and also works as a senior tutor at Fame Theatre Company (2016-current) where they take private singing, group singing and acting classes.

Katie teaches people to use their voice in a healthy, holistic and sustainable way. She offers weekly and fortnightly lessons, and has experience in the following areas:

  • Contemporary and/or Musical Theatre singing technique

  • Vocal coaching (acting through song, audition & performance prep)

  • Vocal health for professional singers and actors

  • Tertiary course audition prep (Musical Theatre)

  • Fragile voices/post-injury vocal health

  • Gender diverse and affirming vocal health

Katie is a neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ affirming singing teacher.

Katie is also a performer and writer. She is one half of the Australian composing duo Forrester & Swan, whose music has been performed all over the country. Their song ‘If You Knew Me’ is included and published in the AMEB musical theatre syllabus. Katie is particularly drawn to the world of cabaret, where her highlights are Glitter and Be (Brisbane Pride Festival, 2021), Grown (2021), Heart Songs (2020), A New Summer (2016-17), The Songs of Laura Nyro (Midsumma Festival, 2015) and Emma Dean’s Broken Romantics (Woodford Folk Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, Wonderland, Sydney Fringe, Festival of Voices and Melbourne Cabaret Festival 2018-19).
